What is ARCH?

Our facility's main function is to encourage the sport of climbing in the Amarillo area by teaching people how to climb safely and providing a training facility for the climbing veteran. In addition to our primary focus, we also provide services for various events such as youth groups and birthday parties. We offer a family oriented atmosphere that is a great place to hang out and have fun. We provide rental equipment for all your climbing needs such as climbing shoes, harnesses, belay devices, and carabiners. We also offer retail climbing gear in the gym and can order anything you may want or need.

All climbers must have a current Release of Liability Form to enter the climbing area at ARCH.  If you are under 18 years of age, your Waiver must be signed by a parent or documented legal guardian.  The Waiver can be printed ahead of time or filled out during your first visit to the gym at the front desk.

First time customers will receive an orientation to the facility and rules for climbing as safely as possible. All ages are welcome!

Bouldering

Bouldering involves climbing without a rope on a shorter wall, at heights of approximately 12 to 15 feet.  Bouldering is a great activity whether you are in a group or alone. Our bouldering areas are available at any time; simply purchase admission to the gym and get started with a brief safety orientation!  If you are looking for a last minute activity, bouldering is a great option! Bouldering is dangerous:  You will fall, and when you fall, you will land on the pads. Please review all posted rules, safety information, and consult a staff member before beginning your bouldering session.

Top Rope Climbing

Top roping is a partner activity in which one person ties into their harness on one end of a rope and climbs while the other person holds the other end of the rope using a belay device and belays the climber. Top rope belaying includes pulling the slack up as the climber ascends, catching any falls the climber may take, and lowering the climber back down to the ground when they are done. The new climber must take and pass a belay class to become certified to belay at our facility. Experienced belayers must demonstrate competency.

Belay classes require a reservation.

Belayers must be 13 years old or older.

ARCH has 5-6 auto-belays on our toprope wall. Even if you don’t have a partner to climb with, there are 15-18 routes available ranging from 5.7 - 5.12.
